Last year, Spain’s exports<\/strong> to Egypt amounted to 1,447 million euros<\/strong> and imports to 678 million euros. Compared to 2019, the variations were -5% and -23% respectively, mainly due to the effects of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our country is currently the fourth largest supplier,<\/strong> behind Germany, Italy and France, to the African country. The main goods exported <\/strong>in 2020 were machinery and mechanical appliances; automobiles, tractors, electrical appliances and equipment; copper and its manufactures; fuels and mineral oils. A very diversified composition<\/strong>. As for imports, the chapters of fuels and mineral oils; plastic materials and articles thereof; cast iron and steel, knitted and crocheted clothing and fertilisers are worth mentioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, it should be noted that Egypt – a country with a population<\/strong> of over 100 million<\/strong> – has begun to apply the ACID (Advanced Cargo Information Declaration) <\/strong>regulation, which refers to the obligatory pre-registration<\/strong> of cargoes. The aim of the regulation is to simplify operations and prevent prohibited or risky goods from entering the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
