{"id":1960,"date":"2020-02-17T18:29:43","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T17:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rflcargo.com\/?p=1960"},"modified":"2020-02-17T18:29:43","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T17:29:43","slug":"present-and-future-in-refrigerated-transport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rflcargo.com\/en\/present-and-future-in-refrigerated-transport\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESENT AND FUTURE IN REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>refrigerated transport market is very competitive<\/strong> and, in the case of Spain, the profile of the companies that predominate are those dedicated exclusively to the transport &#8211; with a high degree of specialization &#8211; of this type of goods.<\/p>\n<p>In a context where the tasks of transport are increasingly complex, the <strong>current cold logistics<\/strong> is facing factors such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Changes in consumer behavior<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The gradual incorporation of <strong>autonomous trucks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Greater acquisition of food products<\/strong> in large cities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/rflcargo.com\/en\/\">RFL,<\/a> an expert in customised <a href=\"https:\/\/rflcargo.com\/en\/reefer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">logistics solutions<\/a>, we have already talked about the <a href=\"https:\/\/rflcargo.com\/en\/what-is-a-controlled-atmosphere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">controlled atmosphere,<\/a> but we must also bear in mind that experts say that people are increasingly moving less to supermarkets and large stores. For this reason, manufacturers, distributors and their logistics operators will have to adapt to this reality which will be transforming this area of logistics.<\/p>\n<h2>The challenge of digitization<\/h2>\n<p>Today, cold logistics is still very much paper-based, and is <strong>very little digitized<\/strong> in the opinion of professionals and experts in the supply chain, often gathered at i<strong>nternational trade fairs or symposiums<\/strong>. They also point out that there are many stumbling<strong> blocks in the flow of information<\/strong>, and partly because of the high specifications of the distributors.<\/p>\n<p>These are extremely important issues that must be taken into account by the industry in countries such as<strong> Spain, a world power in the traffic of perishable goods<\/strong>, which in <strong>2018 exported more than 12.5 million tons of products abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Spain, world leader in export-import of refrigerated products<\/h2>\n<p>The export activity of perishables from Spain meant revenues of <strong>12.832 million euros in 2018<\/strong>. Nearly 12% of these exports, over 1.6 million tonnes, were made by sea, with the <strong>ports of Barcelona, Valencia, Bah\u00eda de Algeciras, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Bah\u00eda de C\u00e1diz and Bilbao<\/strong> accounting for the largest share of port movements (88% of the total).<\/p>\n<p>It should be borne in mind that the <strong>main markets for fruit and fresh produce <\/strong>are in Africa, Central and South America, especially the Gulf of Mexico, North Africa and Spain.
